Submission to the Ministry of Health: child rights in mental health compulsory assessment and treatment

This submission was to the Ministry of Health in response to their consultation on repealing the Mental Health Act. OCC has focused on what needs to be in replacement legislation to ensure the rights and wellbeing of children and young people. This has been informed by our monitoring of mental health units in accordance with our OPCAT role, where young people are detained under compulsory treatment orders.
