A report from the Office of the Children's Commissioner following an investigation into the deaths of Saliel and Olympia Aplin.
Executive summary of the final report on the investigation into the death of James Whakaruru.
This book examines a decade of maltreatment deaths in New Zealand in the light of international literature about this phenomenon. It canvasses the impact of the ‘death reviews’ on child protection practice in English-speaking countries and proposes a systems approach for future use. The book draws on what is known about those who cause child death by maltreatment to propose how systems of response might be strengthened and how services might target the accumulation of adversity across the life course. While the book uses New Zealand data as a springboard for discussion, the analysis and the proposals it contains have broader international significance. International postage costs will be charged on this publication.
