Case study: Te Whānau Aroha

In 2016, the Office of the Children’s Commissioner was asked to convene a panel of young people experienced in the State Care system to advise the Minister for Children on significant changes that the government was proposing to the statutory care system.

This engagement was through a youth advisory panel; as a result, we are able to share what worked well for young people using this method of engagement.
