About Photovoice

Aim

The Children’s Commissioner aims to ensure that decision makers who can end child poverty in New Zealand hear children and young people's views and experiences. This includes politicians, policy makers and media.

What happened?

The Office of the Children’s Commissioner held a series of workshops with participating groups of children, young people, teen and young parents. After working on their descriptions of poverty, the groups went into their communities to illustrate these in some way. Some took photographs, while others drew, wrote poems, stories and lyrics, or recorded dramas. A full write-up of the project will be available soon on this site.  Watch this space!
